Our values

We want to promote the sustainable development of the islands, protect its very fragile environment and offer an unforgettable experience to customers who come to discover the beauty of our little corner of the country.

Our story

It's after the purchase of a TRIKE electric bike from his friend Guy Caron in 2018, that Bernard Vigneau got very enthusiastic about electric bike.

Having always been an hands-on person and interested in new outdoor and technological products, he decided to start creating 2 electric bikes with cabin, with the help of a friend during the winter of 2018-19.

Thus, the idea of creating an electric bike rental business started to bloom in Bernard's mind during that winter.

In spring 2019, with his partner Nancy, he acquired 9 electric bikes, and that is how Éco-vélo des Îles was born.

The first year of operation was dedicated to promoting the product to Madelinots and visitors.

Faced with the enthusiasm and interest of people for this new product, they decided to increase the fleet of rental bikes in 2020, despite the pandemic context.

The success was instant! And Quebecers' enthusiasm for electric bikes subsequently exploded.

Today, in 2024, Éco-vélo des îles is more than 100 e-bikes for rent; a shop with more than 20 different e-bike models; 4 rental service points; a roadside assistance service for cyclists and a multitude of charging points throughout the archipelago.

There is no shortage of projects in Bernard Vigneau’s mind. Other developments are coming in the coming years.

Involvements in our community

Attention Fragile

For the owner of the company, the practice of outdoor activities in harmony with the fragile environment of the archipelago is a priority.

He is involved on various committees related to environmental protection such as AMSEE and has also collaborated on the production of a video with the organization “Attention Fragile” about the practice of electric fat bike on our beaches, respecting the dunes and the birds that live there.

Cycle path project

Éco-vélo des îles wants to make active transportation a way to move around the archipelago in an efficient and safe way.

This is why Bernard is involved and collaborates to create a cycling network project for the entire Magdalen Islands. Which would be better suited to the needs of Magdalen Islanders and visitors.

Project of battery recharge

Several electric charging stations will be installed throughout the archipelago, for our cyclists.

In addition, other projects in the same direction are coming.
